Your privacy is very important to us. At Italian Soul we have a few fundamental principles that we follow:
- We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. (We can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
- We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
- We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our site.
Italian Soul operates italiansoul.life. It is Italian Soul’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating the website.
Information contained about ancestors of the villages of Apella and Taponecco listed and recorded in Souls of Lunigiana are information gained and researched by Italian Soul, legally through various public domains including Ancestry.com, Familysearch.org, and public governmental organisations including the Commune of Licciana Nardi, Massa-Carrara, Toscana, Italia and various other archival institutions in the province of Massa-Carrara. All information is public governmental record (e.g. births, deaths, marriages). Other information is gathered through personal and family contributions. Contributors whom have granted permission for their names to be published are thanked on the official Italian Soul Contributors page.
Living (Private) People
The names of living relatives mentioned as children on an ancestor’s page are private unless otherwise requested to be public by that person’s written permission. If a person wishes to contact and/or find out the names of a private living person, the person should contact Italian Soul directly and make a request, giving an explanation of themselves and why they would like to get in contact with the private living person. Italian Soul would then manage the following steps, asking permission from that private living person.
Like most website operators, Italian Soul collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Italian Soul’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Italian Soul’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Italian Soul may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Italian Soul also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. Italian Soul only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to Italian Soul’s website choose to interact with Italian Soul in ways that require Italian Soul to gather personally-identifying information. Those who wish to receive Italian Soul updates via email, we collect their emails. In each case, Italian Soul collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Italian Soul. Italian Soul does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Italian Soul may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, Italian Soul may monitor the most popular page on the italiansoul.life site or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify spam. Italian Soul may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Italian Soul does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
